Companies compete to train the best model and take over a market with basically infinite value. In this race, Anthropic released Fable from the Mythos line. The USA immediately banned it for non-citizens. Is it worth the hype and the cost?
Hi, my name is Tom Smykowski. I've spent 19 years building production systems and now focus on AI-assisted development. On this blog I share insights on AI coding tools and what they mean for working engineers.
In this landscape Anthropic is a company that really tries to push the edge with their models, where Opus and Sonnet are already quite ok in helping with coding. Additionally the company for months was advertising through various channels their new model called Mythos.
But the company marketing plans are as they are. The classical scenario of AI destroying the world was played out, and Mythos advertised as a model so good, that it can even find vulnerabilities in software.
For sure we now have had chance to check the abilities of what appears to be a line of models, where Fable model is announced as a model from the Mythos line. Is that the model we all waited for?
Anyways, as soon as Fable was released, USA banned it. So that it can be used only by USA citizens and companies. Can you imagine a model that is so excellent that the biggest country in North America has to ban it for outsiders?
